L. K. Sudhish is an Indian politician and film producer from Tamil Nadu. Born in Ambur, he was schooled at Ambur Co-operative Sugar Mill Higher Secondary School in Vadapudupattu before studying at Pachaiyappa's College. He now lives in Chennai.

He has spent his career in the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, the party founded by actor-politician Vijayakanth, rising to serve as its Treasurer. Alongside party work, he built a parallel career producing Tamil films under the Captain Cine Creations banner.

In 2026, after several attempts at elected office, he entered Parliament directly — nominated by the DMDK and elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.

Political journey

From the campaign trail to the Rajya Sabha

A long apprenticeship in electoral politics before his entry into Parliament.

2006

Contested the Gudiyatham assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu on a DMDK ticket, without success.

2009

Stood for the Lok Sabha from the Kallakurichi constituency.

2014

Contested the Lok Sabha election from Salem.

2019

Returned to contest the Lok Sabha from Kallakurichi a second time.

2025

Appointed Treasurer of the DMDK, taking on a senior organisational role within the party.

2026

Nominated by the DMDK for the Rajya Sabha; elected unopposed from Tamil Nadu along with five other leaders, and took oath as a Member of Parliament on 3 April 2026.

Screen career

Producing under Captain Cine Creations

Before and alongside politics, Sudhish built a career producing Tamil cinema, almost all of it starring DMDK founder Vijayakanth. Eight features carry his production credit over fifteen years.

2000

Vallarasu

His debut as producer — an action film starring Vijayakanth and Devayani, directed by N. Maharajan, with music by Deva. A commercial success later remade in Hindi as Indian.

2001

Narasimha

An action film starring Vijayakanth and Isha Koppikar, directed by Thirupathisamy, with music by Mani Sharma. Produced jointly with Vijayakanth.

2003

Thennavan

A political action film with Vijayakanth playing an upright IAS officer turned Chief Election Commissioner. Directed by A. M. Nandakumar, music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

2004

Engal Anna

A family drama starring Vijayakanth, Prabhu Deva and Namitha, directed by Siddique. His producer credit on this one is reported inconsistently across sources.

2006

Sudesi

A political action film starring Vijayakanth and Ashima Bhalla, directed by Jeppy A. Y., with music by Srikanth Deva.

2008

Arasangam

A political thriller starring Vijayakanth and Biju Menon in a dual role, directed by R. Madhesh — notably Vijayakanth's 150th film.

2010

Virudhagiri

Vijayakanth's directorial debut and his final film as an actor before turning fully to politics, co-produced with Sudhish. Music by Sundar C Babu.

2015

Sagaptham

His most recent production, an action comedy launching newcomer Shanmuga Pandian, directed by Surendran with music by Karthik Raja.

Ties to the DMDK's founding family

Sudhish is the younger brother of Premalatha Vijayakanth, a senior DMDK leader and the wife of party founder Vijayakanth — placing him at the centre of the family that has led the DMDK since its founding.
